Valentine's Day 2015

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

School Valentine's
Since we are in our only year of preschool, this is Macklin's first experience with class valentine cards. We started work on ours about three weeks ago because I knew it would take a while to get his name written on each one (and he only wrote "Mack"). He seemed to like preparing them though. But, he liked the bags at school even more that began to fill up over the course of the week! Since kids go to school different days of the week, most of the goodies were in there from Wednesday on. I am not sure how his teachers keep those cute little hands out of the bags all week. Needless to say he was excited to bring it home, dump it out, and show off his goods! Macy enjoyed the process as well!

Openning Valentine's From Mommy and Daddy and Grandparents
They were so excited to get little cards and gifts from everyone! Macy was jealous of Macklin's school sack of valentines, so we made sacks for everyone in the family!

MOPS and POPS Dinner Party
My wonderful MOPS group put on a really fun night on the 13th! We called it MOPS and POPS and it was a dinner date for parents. Kids got to play in the normal childcare while parents had a date night of Moe's BBQ and a little marriage enrichment. The four couples below were invited to play a "Newlywed Game" in front of the 80-person crowd. I will say that Team Brandt went 6 for 6 on the questions and took home the win! It was very cute and funny. After the game, our director's husband gave a great talk on marriage and serving each other better. I really hope that we make this an annual night for couples!

Valentine Recap

Valentine's Day started early with a little play date party earlier in the week. My friend Shannon is always up to something fun for the kids, like this Fruit Loop threading that created a heart!

The fun continued with a special package from Grandpa and Mema with lots of goodies!

The morning of the 14th started with pink heart-shaped pancakes and strawberry milk! We were blessed with valentines from grandparents and friends (and MOPS) to make our table beautiful!

This is what happens when Macy sticks chocolates and candy hearts down her PJs and runs around for a bit. Silly mommy for thinking it was cute while she was doing it (and not taking them out!).

We had a blast at our Valentine's Day date night! One friend bought a group night at auction item at the Young Life banquet last fall. Seven couples were able to get together at The Metropolitian in Beaver Creek. These are some sweet friends from the Wolcott-Avon area that we know through Young Life and such. It is crazy that all of us could get together on one night while leaving 14 babies at their respective homes! We just sat for three and a half hours just chatting. It was so enjoyable. We planned to go skin up the mountain afterwards, but we talked too long!

Love from the Brandts

Hope the love of Christ has been evident to you this Valentine's Day!

(Note: I got this digital card format at Persnickety Prints Blog from last years collection of freebies.)

Finishing Up Valentines

We had a little work to do on some Valentine's cards for daddy and Daniel. We broke out the paint and went to town. I used this idea from Pinterest....toliet paper roll hearts. And then I tried to make a potato stamp. I swear these things worked better when I was young, but it was my first attempt as a mommy. Let's be honest, my star looks more like a distorted spaceship anyway. We can try again later!

I didn't take a picture of Macklin's card for Justin, but we made an owl (off of instructions from my friends blog) and it said... "Daddy, know what? Owl always love you!"

Redneck?

Is this the definition of a RedNeck?

No! Just scratching my neck while I played with ink!

We worked on our Valentine's Day Cards for our families today!

And...last night we ate crab legs! Crab legs totally look normal on a Elmo plate with a sippy cup, right?

This is what happens when Daniel cooks :)
