Sylvan Lake Cabin Trip

Over our mid-winter break from school, we took advantage of time off with daddy and rented a cabin at Sylvan Lake for a night. It was a great break from the norm and the kids really enjoyed it!

The Cabin
Ours had one large room.

Daniel and his girls (along with their aunt) came along and they rented one with a separate sleeping room, but making the eating space a little smaller. Both worked great for each family.

Playing on the Frozen Sylvan Lake
Another group had shoveled off the ice (for an appeared ice skating rink) so we enjoyed playing on it!

Nordic Skiing on the Lake
The whole trip was awesome...except my wipe out! I feel trying to help Macklin with his skis and hit my lower back pretty darn hard. The damage is kinda unknown at this point, but I am for sure not doing anything active until further notice. I still skied with Mack for the rest of the afternoon, but I am still in quite a bit of pain at times. Boo to injuries.

Early Snow

We have been enjoying the early winter snow this year. Beaver Creek is reporting a 27" base already and 67" total this season. Gypsum enjoyed a major snow the weekend before Thanksgiving and the first week of Dec that is still on the ground today! I think we got somewhere between 14-18" in a 3 day span. It was awesome! Even living in Colorado, some people still complain about the weather...not us! That is why we walk to school (yes, we still have school when you wake up to 12" of powder) and play as much as possible in the white powder!

We took a little walk!

Yesterday, Macklin asked if we could go play in the big snow piles near the post office. I said, "Of course!" No need for toys when you have snow piles! By the way, check out the kids new coordinating hats :) Thanks to our friends Hailee and Kari! They look so stylish!

This was actually the first day I felt like Macy really enjoyed playing in the snow. I am not sure she is sold yet, but hopefully she will get there!

Sledding on Vail Pass

We live in a beautiful place! While it is still fall in Gypsum, Vail Pass has over 18inches of sugary powder. So we ventured up with the Bakers and Bangtsons to do some sledding!
