EVXCI & Papa's Visit

We had some great weather for my home meet last weekend. But, better than weather (and after hosting in the rain, that is a big deal), MY DAD CAME TO MY MEET! He has been my biggest fan throughout my running career - driving a dozen hours just to watch my 20 minute race. But having him at my home meet was a great experience. He got to see me in race director mode, my team race, me coach, and actually race the course himself! It was such an honor to have him out in Gypsum for this experience.

Dad won his age group!

Macklin decided to do the Kids 1K race this year, instead of the Fun K (about 300 feet). Mack and his buddy Briggs did a great job, with Papa and Briggs' dad in tow, they raced around the over half mile course! I was one proud momma! Macy, on the other hand, is not pictured since she cried through the whole Fun K :(

The kids were so excited to host Papa! Thanks for coming! Not sure how I would have made it through this weekend without you!

Dirty Dozen

The Gypsum Dirty Dozen obstacle race is a fun experience for our town. There are 12 obstacles that you have to navigate over a (almost) 5k course. Each year they have added more mud and more slop to the course. We had a blast doing it this year as I finished it with two of my high school athletes. The group below is the whole track team that started together!

The highlight of my day though began after I finished the race - it was Macklin's turn to race! There was a two-lap kids course around one section of the race. Macklin made it through one round and did a great job. He wasn't too excited about really laying and swimming through the mud. But, hey, he is only four. I was so proud of him and he really had a blast!

Family Fun Fair

The kids had a blast getting their faces painted at the Free Family Fun Fair! They did a great job sitting and being still for the artist. Macklin had the idea for the Raf Ninja Turtle face. By the time we left, there were at least five other Ninja Turtles around that liked his idea! He enjoyed showing it off to Justin at his basketball game later in the day.

Gypsum Tree Lighting

Tonight was the Gypsum Tree Lighting gathering at the Gypsum Library. I have learned to love our small town and all of the fun events that occur. This year, they moved the crafts, snacks, and book readings inside and then we moved out around the tree for caroling and the tree lighting. The kids had fun playing the snow and enjoying the community.

My kids are sporting their new knit hats from my friends Hailee and Kari! They are looking so good!

Fall Events

So many fun times during the Fall in Colorado that it makes it my favorite season! Just seems like you get to enjoy the surroundings and you can't help but appreciate God's creation when you look around you! Here are some of the fun things we have gotten to do in the past three weeks.

Gypsum's Fall Festival
Chalk another event up to the free family events in Gypsum (love this town). Macklin said, "Mommy, why don't I have my costume on?" "Because Mommy missed the memo. Sorry buddy." Good thing he doesn't stay on one topic too long. Costume or not, the kids had a great time. Carnival games, bouncy castles, candy, prizes, and one HUGE pile of leaves to run through (intentionally dropped in the middle of the park). It was cold but a blast!

Oh, and a flash mob doing Thriller in the middle of the concert!

Fresh Cookies and Playdates
Trevan came over a last week to play with the kids while his family moved. It was a blast. Mack and Trevan play so well together. While we did get some work done, fresh cookies were the highlight of the afternoon together.

Another playdate with Corbynn later in the week was enjoyed by all as well! The Leonard Family was on the move last week as well!

Fun Festive Lunches
Where did this spider come from!?

Making Halloween Cookies for Our Friends
I think this is funny with the Mr and the Mrs (thanks to Van and Laine to these awesome and well loved wedding gifts!).

Fall Leaves
I love this picture of Macy. While we have done two full rake-ups of the yard already, you would never guess! I really enjoy our trees all summer long, but the fall does bring about a lot of work!

Our Thankful Tree
We did this last year with Macklin and really enjoyed it. Our first tag was for Daddy and Macy was the next one today. We will go all the way through Thanksgiving with this one!
