New Sectional

Here is the set up that we have had for the past 6 years on our house:

Now we got our new couch and it is time for some redecorating! Just in time for the babies arrival. We really have been in need of a sleeper sofa and we were blessed to have found the perfect fit! We ordered a custom sectional from Mountain Living Furniture right here in Gypsum. They were so great at helping us pick out what would be just right for us. We chose a Jonathan Lewis three-piece (chaise, full sleeper, and corner piece) sectional.

Rug #1

Rug #2

Out with the red and in with the blue! So excited to see it come together. We have to decide on the pillows, rug, coffee table/ottoman, TV stand, china cabinet, lighting/new lamp and kids toy area/potential desk space! So many fun things to think about. I just want to get settled and enjoy our space :) Post pictures when we are all done!

New Couch

Neutral couch color on bottom, with three throw pillow fabrics.

So excited to order our new couch! We are getting a sleeper sectional to replace our current love seat and couch. We went through Mountain Living Furniture in Gypsum. They have been great and so helpful in ordering everything. We are hoping to get it in time for the baby's arrival so that all of the grandparents can enjoy the sleeper portion of the sectional! Daniel won't get the boot from his room and visitors can have a nice bed. are getting a sectional to replace our current love seat and couch.

Now, what else will have to change with the new couch colors...

Bedroom Improvement

The nesting phase is in full force around the Brandt home. I had to try something else with the kids room and I think I found my solution! I moved the dresser to the closet! Now I won't have to stain it and it is out of the room :) Double win. I think it feel much more open, although the closet is a bit crammed. I am still get to all the clothes, I just have to know what is in there to begin with. Now...onto wall decor!

Macy thinks she found the best new hiding spot too! Can you see her?

January Happenings

What have the Brandts been up to this month?

Sledding behind Costco - Baxter is not the best sledding partner!

Justin took Macklin up for a full afternoon of skiing last week! He did awesome! They went all the way to the top of Beaver Creek. Then they completed two loops on the Drink of Water lift and skied all the way down. Macklin did a great job and Justin survived on a snowboard sticking close by (we wondered how the snowboard/ski combo would be). I think there will be more "Man Time on the Mountain" for these two.

I finally grew something! I am really great at killing plants (hence the barely growing bamboo plant on the right). But the Paper Whites from Grandma were awesome! Since this picture, they have bloomed and look beautiful!

Macklin loves his play time! He would choose to play with toys each day unless I peeled him out of the house to go do things!

Yummy brownies and ice cream thanks to my sweet friend Emily!

Picnics outside! We have had a few sunny and 45+ degree days! It feels like spring time!

We have also been prepping for baby 3. We were given a white crib from a friend to fit our new decor. The crib, along with our dresser (still pending a finish), is making our room feel more like a dorm room. So we still have some work to do. Might try to move the dress into the closet. Then onto the wall decor and accents. We also changed out the fan for a standard ceiling mount light, which does open the room up quite nicely. It's a work in progress.

Kids Room Transformation

Here is how our nursery looks originally and I loved every bit of it.

The kids room as it stood a few weeks ago as we grew into the space with two kids...
Green walls with black furniture.
Twin bed and a toddler bed.
Changing table and a dresser.

(disregard the wet spot...it was just a water cup that spilled)

Their new room!!!!
Light gray paint with white furniture.
Triple bunks complete.
New bedding from Land of Nod.
One natural wood dresser in place (not pictured) and more furniture TBD.
Wall hangings TBD as well.

I am so proud of my hard-working hubby for taking his Thanksgiving break to work on our kids room. They love the triple bunks (as long as they aren't getting hurt on them) and I am anxious to get the rest of the room figured out and get rid of the "sterile" look. We do have room for a crib too (in it's old location) when the time comes next spring. All other details in the works, but the kids can sleep and play as they wish!

May Happenings

Justin built a new "toy shed" for our kiddos! He is awesome.

Macy just being cute with her new haircut.

Some new great head shots of the kids.

Did Papa turn 60 or 90?

Date nights with Justin….beating him at his own game.

Macy checking out the spring flowers.

Macy is getting more bold with the Strider.

Bike park with Trevan

Macy running around the bike trails. I love our town.

Macy getting more bold at climbing (and the scabs to prove it).

A random pic of our last day of skiing together this season (maybe a April happening).

Backyard Camping

We wanted to go camping two weekends ago but also wanted to hang out with our roomie Daniel - so we did the best of both worlds and camped in our backyard! We had a blast roasting hot dogs and s'mores, playing card games, and sleeping in the tent. The best part was that we kept Macy inside and had the monitor outside with us. She got a normal nights sleep and we enjoyed the tent!

We picked up the tent from Grandpa and Mema this summer. They had it in their basement but weren't using it. Just so happened that a new family camping tent was our next adventure purchase! What a blessing it is to have this. It is brand new and worked great for our growing family! Good bye to Justin's grade school Bass Pro Shop tent. You served us well for the past six years little blue tent, but we had worn you out and out grown you. Best of luck with your new owner (whoever buys you at the Thrifty Shop)!

Check out this awesome kid sleeping bag that Daniel has for his girls. No room for cold spots - it was perfect for Mack :)

We also got to use our little firepit from Joannie and Earl. Since we have re-done our yard, it has been used at least on a monthly basis. It provides us with a nice atmosphere in the yard. We just have to remember to not let the grass burn out underneath it...oops.

The Yellow Room

When we moved into our home, we had a green guest room and a yellow office. When Macklin came around, we turned the green room into his nursery and then the yellow room became the guest room and office complete with the desk above and bunk beds. When Daniel moved in with us, the guest room became his. When Macklin needed a bed, he got the top bunk bed so that little Macy could take his crib - both in the green room.

When Daniel moved out, the yellow room became the guest room, office and toy room as. We did not have storage for the toys, so we just put them all around the floor. Last winter break, Justin constructed the Murphy Bed that is the piece of wood on the left in this picture. We got a new desk to maximize space and the toys are still on the floor.

After doing a little toy inventory, we decided that we had to have something in order to get the toys off the ground. Nothing that we were seeing at the stores was satisfying our needs for this room. Seriously, who has this many toys in one room of a tiny house?

After a lot of thought time, Justin and I constructed our own shelving system for the room to meet the needs of the toys as well as the fact that Daniel was moving back in. I LOVE the final product and am so bummed that we didn't do this sooner! The top bins (and we have added some more to the top of the shelf) are for Daniel and the lower ones are for the kids. I did have to move some of the bigger toys around the house in other places as they did not fit.

Here is where I got all of the bins and baskets:

Custom Wall Shelving Unit
Macklin loves his reading nook!

What happened to the desk you might ask? It got moved to the baby nook! Everyone wants a desk in their bathroom, right? Please pardon the crazy mess. I just put the shower curtain over it and you don't see it! If we get to have another baby, this will have to move again, but it is a great solution right now for a work space for me to plan out my cross country season.
