GoPro Mountain Games

The GoPro Mountain Games are always one of my favorite weekends of the summer. It is an outdoor festival of sports and gear and attracts some incredible athletes. I decided not to run myself this year since I waited too long to sign up and then realized that I wasn't exactly in racing shape at the time. Nonetheless, when we headed up to watch the bike races, we knew we were in for a good time!

Macklin had some fun in the fountains!

GoPro Mountain Games 2013

I am sad to say that the GoPro Mountain Games are now complete. It is literally one of my favorite weekends of the whole summer in the Vail Valley. Even though the Games are four days long, we spent two solid days there and had a blast. We went up on Saturday to catch our buddy in the mountain bike race, see the dock dogs and the bouldering competition. We stayed to have dinner with the Bakers, Bangstons, and friends and the kids had a blast in the water landscaping around Vail Village. Macy didn't want to be outdone, so she climbed on in too!

Saturday I headed up early to race in the 10k Spring Runoff and had a great race. I got 13th overall for the women and 4th in my age group. I was really happy with my time of 1:04 and my overall performance. I was mentally prepared for 7.5 miles since that was the distance from last year. But they made it closer to an actual 10k at 6.86mi, thus making my 1:37 time from last year (6 weeks post-birth) a bit incomparable. It was great to get out and be competitive since I feel like I am in pretty good shape. My sweet friends Jen and Kari were at the top of a tough 5mile marker hill in the woods and that was a huge encouragement! We headed to breakfast after the race and then waited for Justin and the kids to come up after church. We got to see the slackline finals, the dock dogs again, and then water events (kayaking and raft cross). It was a super day and of course, the kids found the fountains again!

And, I saw this amazing stroller! A 3-kid Chariot! It was insane!

Slackline on the left. Kayak 8-Ball on the right (6-ish kayakers come down the river and encounter "8-ball" kayakers along the way that try to hit them...full contact kayaking! Lots of carnage!)

GoPro Mountain Games Weekend

It is time for the GoPro Mountain Games (formally the Teva Mountain Games)!!! This is one of my favorite weekends of the year in Vail.
My swag bag is shown above. I will be running the 10k on Sunday morning.
I am pumped to watch the Slacklining World Championships and the a Boulder World Cup Event as well as take Macklin to see the biking and dog events.

If you haven't seen this video from last years slacklining, it will blow you away. It makes walking on the slack line look simple.

Winter Mountain Games

I had another great time at the Winter Mountain Games (formerly the Winter Teva Mountain Games). I did the 5k Snowshoe and got 2nd to my good friend Kari (who insists that her dog pulled her up the mountain, but I think she is just in good shape!). I love snowshoeing, so any excuse to get out there and race is awesome. My dear friend Melissa look care of the kids while I was racing since Justin had a basketball game. I am glad that the mom of one of my high school runners was there to help her as Macklin was running everywhere!

Teva Games 2011

The Teva Games was a blast this year! I tried to convince lots of kiddos from my team to join me in the Mud Run. I have not been able to do it for the last few years and it always looked so fun. Even though I had a lot of kids interested, only one ended up joining me...the awesome Miss Maggie Gilman!!!! We had so much fun!

Before...looking bright!

After the run, we got 3/4th place!

A little posed extras!

After the bonus round!

Getting rinsed off

We were famous! We made a few publications!
Check this one out...and this one too (scroll down)...and this one...and this one.

Afterwards, Justin and Mack came to join us and Mack enjoyed the fountains in Vail Village.

We also met up with Hayley and Kari after her bike race...

...where she WON the Teva Games!
