Macklin's HAPPY tattoo left a mark!

Mother's Day Tea at MLVP
Macklin's class hosted a Mother's Day Tea for us! It was so cute. They sang a few songs, presented us with special (student illustrated) cookie cookbooks, and we enjoyed lemonade and cookies. So special!

Macklin's Feelings

Love this book that Macklin brought home from school last week.
His drawings and statements are so precious.

Macklin's Christmas Program

Macklin's preschool was a part of the church's Children's Christmas Program. After asking to practice with us and knowing all of his lines, the actual performance turned out to be quite different. He was one tired kid during the show. His teacher tried to keep him from falling out of his seat, although you can see what happens in the video when he almost falls over while standing. I was snickering so hard as we watched him since it reminded me so much of someone else that is in our family....

Macklin's Letters

Today, Macklin said, "Mom, I gotta do some homework now." Of course I was interested to see what this meant since he does not have homework really. He requested a "clear" sheet of paper and a crayon. He then started to write out his numbers. After 6, he said that he was better at letters than he was at numbers. So he flipped the page over and wrote a quick MAC (actually the fastest and most confidently that I have ever seen him do it). Then we got out his school flash card letters and he wrote nearly all of the letters before losing interest.

It was fun to watch his excitement over learning (yes, I am a teacher, right?). But he was also focused for a good bit of time. That is equally exciting. Go preschool!

Grandma's Visit

Grandma came for a visit! It was so awesome to have her here while we went to Polar Bear Weekend with Young Life a couple of weeks back. It is such a service to us and our ministry that we are grateful for. Since she was here for a week, it was nice to have some extra time with her around the weekend.

Reading at Macklin's Preschool
Grandma was able to be a special reader at school while she was here. She read for just over an hour and this was the scene when I got there to pick her up! Macklin said that he stayed by her side for ALL of the books that she read and even asked if she could "have a job" again next time she came for a visit.

Stone Soup Lunch

Instead of a traditional Thanksgiving meal at Macklin's preschool, they had a Stone Soup meal. I have not personally read the Stone Soup stories, but it has been their focus book this month at school. It focuses on everyone contributing to provide a meal for travelers, which was originally started with a stone. The kids all picked an ingredient to put into the chicken noodle soup. And, yes, their soup did have a stone in it!

Macklin's First Day of Preschool

Macklin had a great first day of preschool at Mountain Valley Lutheran Preschool! He is going to go two days a week this year before starting kindergarten next fall. He has two teachers, Mrs M and Mrs K. They said he did a great job except for the fact that he fell asleep during rest time and was not happy about waking up. He is a tired boy! He told me that he was not done playing when I came to pick him up! I think that is a good sign.
