3 Weeks Old @ YL Banquet

Macklin attended his first Young Life event....the 2nd Annual Vail Valley Young Life Banquet. I have had the perfect outfit for this night since Polar Bear Weekend in Oct 2009. I found this precious little YL onsie and bought it at Crooked Creed. Little did I know, since it was so darn small, that is was really a 12 month size onsie! I couldn't resist and put it on him anyway, tucking all the extra shirt into his little brown pants! He was precious and was held all night long! He did great!

Mimi Comes Back

My mom came back to help me out during Macklin's third week of life. It was awesome to have her here to talk with while Justin was back at work. We went for walks, ran errands, played with Macklin a lot, trimmed some blinds, and just enjoyed our time together. Mom hardly got to see Justin as he had to run around with all of his other commitments of our normal life with school and YL. Below are some shots from the week.

Oh yah, we also got to celebrate Mom's birthday while she was here! It was an honor to spend that day with her! I made her the smallest birthday sundae ever made (we had to have a candle to blow out, but I didn't know if she even wanted ice cream)!

First Smile Captured!

After mom and I were giving Macklin a bath, we actually captured his first smile on camera! Way to go Mimi! So, here is the bath (because I am obsessed with bath time...by the way...mom made the video sideways!) and then the smile!

Rock Climbing

I really needed to get out today. So we went down to Wolcott and did a little bouldering on the rocks by the river. Macklin just hung out in his car seat, after eating, and Justin and I got to climb a bit. It was like my first active thing besides walking! Woohoo! By the way, our dog is super cute (but he doesn't get a lot of attention these days...sad).

Professional Newborn Pics

Cara Leonard took some awesome pictures of Macklin yesterday. I love all of them, but will only post a few below. She is a photographer from Eagle, CO and you can see her website at http://www.caraleonardphotography.com/ She is a good friend and is wonderful to work with!

Grandma Kathy Comes for a Visit

Grandma Kathy was here from April 9-13. We went to pick her up from the Eagle airport and she was SOOO excited to meet Macklin. I love the first pictures of her with Justin and Macklin. She is beaming! Kathy was a huge help around the house, helping me get some more sleep and rest up. She made us some yummy cookies to give to everyone that brought us meals. Kathy was also sweet enough to clean our house as she was leaving on Tuesday. We did some fun things too...We took her for a walk in Glenwood Canyon and just enjoyed our time together. She spoiled Macklin by snoozing with him on her chest! He loved it!

Macklin Goes to Moab

Moab was Macklin's first trip. We decided to be adventureous and just go for it! The Leonards invited us to go to Moab with them for the weekend on Thursday...so packed up on Friday and took everyone (Mack and Baxter of course) and arrived in Moab around midnight on Friday. Scott and Cara had everything all set up at a traditional pull in camp site. It was not quite what we had in mind, but definitely worked for our little ones. It was so fun to hang out with them.

Scott and Justin went to bike Slickrock (famous bike trail out in Moab) while Cara and I took the kids to Arches National Park. I loved every minute of it! I had never been there and it was so cool. The only bad part was that Baxter was not allowed on any of the trails and Moab was about 20 degrees too hot for his furry body! But he was kind of a novalty around Moab (because noone in their right mind takes a super hairy dog to Moab in May) and he survived!

After their ride, we met back up with the boys, got some ice cream, and then went to hike to a water fall outside of Moab. Turns out the waterfall was further away than we had hoped and the little ones were getting tired. A yummy camp-out dinner of tacos along with some s'mores hit the spot and we all crammed into our little beds to fall asleep...me, Justin, Baxter and Macklin all in the truck bed. We love truck camping and Macklin did awesome! I am glad we have an easy-going kiddo (so far at least!).

First Bath and Outing

Today we gave Macklin his first bath at home. He is so tiny that we were a bit nervous just to handle him in the bath. He didn't really like it that much, but I think he will do better as we do them more. Five days old! Later we went to his first baby check up. Dr. Engle said that he was progressing nicely and that everything looked great!

Later that day, we went on our first outing.....to the park! Baxter got to play in the creek with Justin while I fed Macklin on our blanket and then Justin and I had a picnic! It felt really good to get out of the house! On the way home, Baxter feel asleep on Macklin - new best buds!

Macklin Goes Home

Today we got to take Macklin home from the hospital. It was nice to have Mom and Dad around the help...but nothing could get Justin out of there faster. He had a little cabin fever! We took all Mack's prints, signed all the papers, and got him all dressed up! His "newborn" outfit was a big large...making Macklin look more goofy than cute! So, once we were all ready....we took a few more pics and then off we went! Once we got to the house, we introduced Mack to Baxter and I changed his shirt so Justin could claim him as his own!

Mimi and Papa Arrive

My mom and dad made it to Vail late on Sunday night. I was so proud to introduce them to their first grandson!

Days 1 & 2

We were so grateful to have some hospital visitors! Jason and Abbie came right away and got to see Macklin first! Then the Smileys came by Saturday night as well. Kari and Jake came by right after Easter service and then Alana, Torrey, and Eric came as well. It was so fun to show off our new little man to all our friends. Below are some of our first pics as a family!

First Few Minutes of Life

I got to hold him for a minute, but then they took him back out of my arms to clean him up. I was so eager to get him back. All I could tell Justin was that "I want to hold him!" as I fought back tears of joy.

Seeing Macklin for the first time was awesome! I couldn't believe that this little man was really here! It was so cool!
