Donkey Basketball

Justin and I had a blast while playing dodgeball for one of the high school fundraisers last Wednesday. Neither of us got hurt, well, nothing expect our pride when the staff team lost to the seniors. It was all fun and games though. The donkeys were stubborn and there were a ton of smiles! Justin and I were aggressive, jumping on and off of the donkey to fight for lose balls (and when I mean fight, I mean fighting our own donkey to come with us to get the ball!). I would totally play this again!

Check out the front page of the Daily the next day....the Donkey Basketball fundraiser and then EVHS getting major academic recognition!!! So funny as the picture doesn't fit the main headline (as is the case most days with the Daily).

Early Evening Play

With the change in weather (at least for a couple of days), we have been enjoying time outside as a family after I come home from practice. Today Justin was working on a new gate for the back of the house (to keep Bax in the side of the house if needed) and the kids were playing in the yard. What a blessing our yard and fence have been for us! It took a while to have grass (and it is still kinda brown) and to complete a fence to keep our babies safe. Thank you for all of the hard work from my sweet hubby! It was soooooo worth the wait!

Notice the new spring clothes and new bow style! Her hair is holding them in!
AND..you can't see it, but inside that previous mouth a 7th tooth has appeared :)

Becoming a pretty good hitter!

Icy Pops for dessert. Macy did surprisingly well with her on her own.

Random picture of Macklin after church on Sunday...one snazzy kid!

Macklin's 1st Stiches

Macklin reached another first last week - his first set of stitches. I say first as I know there will be more in his lifetime, as hard as he plays. While I was cleaning up from our MOPS Tea, he was playing on the stage (carpet preaching stage with wood edging). He just rolled right into the corner of the stage. At first I didn't think it was that bad, but then I noticed it was quite the split. We took him to our family doc in Eagle and the practice stitched him right up. They said he was the "best 3 year old we have ever had."

Proud little guy

Now, that "best 3 year old" was far from it when it came to taking them out. I thought that I could do it myself (which I could have if he would have sit still), but I was wrong. Macklin wanted nothing to do with sitting still and we got in our biggest fight to date. We took time to cool off and decided to make the appointment to take him in. It took myself, a nurse, and the PA working on him to hold him down long enough to get them out. He actually bled a bit because I think the PA niked him as he fought so much. But, they are out and that is what matters. (Do you since his seriousness in this photo?)

Now he is looking good! It has healed nicely and now we just have to keep it out of the sun for a bit longer. Macklin is a tough one!

Back Dated Posts

I am still getting caught up on bloggin life. I just have this crazy condition where I feel like I need to have all of our pics up. I think it is kinda like a digital history. I want to know they are up. So, here are a few posts that I just finalized....

And then...these are just under this post but actually recent :)

Moab

Over Spring Break, we packed up the family and headed to Moab to meet our good buddies Jake and Kari. We have been friends with the Bangtsons since the first day of work in the Vail Valley back in 2007. We pulled out our slackline during the lunch break at new teacher training and we began to learn of our parallel lives. Kari and Jake are quite adventurous and we love to be around them. We just wish their wasn't 40 miles between our pre-manufactured homes ;)

Moab was great. We try to go once in the fall and once in the spring. Our kids are great car travelers even though I feel like I never get to accomplish anything during road trips anymore.

We meet Kari and Jake at our campsite on Wednesday afternoon as snow flakes fell from the sky - not exactly what we were hoping for when we drove through the blizzard in Eagle County to get to Utah. Wednesday was a bit cold, but not horrible. I took the kids to the local rec center to swim inside and Justin braved the briskness to ride his new bike for the first time in Moab. (Note: His words...."I felt like I was cheating!" Justin has ridden an old hard tail for the past 6 years that a friends graciously let him use. Now he has his brand new Yeti dual suspension bike that he thoroughly enjoys!) We headed into town for dinner and did a few s'mores on the fire before leaving the cold for the coziness of our sleeping bags. Here was our set up at Moonflower Campsites:

It was the perfect location for this bunch! The Bangtsons set up on one side of the stream and we were on the hill on the other. We do all four of us in the good ole four man Bass Pro Shop family tent. With Macy in the pack 'n play and Macklin on the climbing crash pad in the corner, the two of us still have plenty of space. We left Baxter with a friend for this trip. This was Macy's third camping trip already - she is one flexible baby!

The steady stream through the little canyon provided hours of enjoyment for Mack and Macy. AND, lots of dirtiness!

Yes, Macklin does have another bandage on his head...no stitches need this time though.

We got to enjoy some time by the campfire with our buddies! We cooked on the fire for Thursday night - hot dogs, brats, and s'mores. We also had some veggies and dip....that which Macy didn't smear all over her face! She loved that dip!

I was able to go for a ride too! I rode with Kari and Jake on Thursday morning and then Justin got to head out in the afternoon. After a chilly Thursday morning, the weather steadily rose from that point on. I rode the Bar-M trails that contain a lot of slick rock, which I like! I am still a horrible mountain biker, well inexperienced and unconfident might be more descriptive words, but I am having more fun with it this year.

Welcome Sunshine!

After a long wait...the sunshine has come out in Gypsum! We have spent the last few days outside with these cuties.

Cookies and Milk outside today!

Baxter even likes the warm weather!

Park Playdate on Thursday

In Other News:

Macy learns to use a straw (we may be a bit late on this one, just didn't have a need for it yet). I think she liked it!

Macy is loving our Little People collection!

Friends' Party Weekend

We had two friends that celebrated birthdays last weekend!
We feel so honored to be a part of such fun events.

Lindy turned 1 and they celebrated with a cupcake party! We had yogurt covered raisins and Goldfish in cupcake cups as appetizers. Then we had mac n cheese, hamburger pie, and pizza in muffin tins for our dinner. And the kids finished by decorating their own cupcake! And...of course, the biking family continued their trend....One year old Lindy got her own pink Strider bike! Get riding chica!

Asher celebrated his 5th birthday by having a little bit of Jedi Training! It was a sweet Star Wars themed party. Macklin doesn't really know anything Star Wars but he sure had fun beating everyone with his "light saber." He wasn't a fan of the Jedi costume, but it was awesome nonetheless!

This was Macklin's first party with organized party games...he was a bit unsure about pinning the saber on Yoda.

And a random one...just showing off his cutie sweater vest from Grandma!
