Trevan's 2nd Birthday

A few weeks ago, my friend Jen threw together quite the fiesta for her son Trevan! He loves his Elmo, so Elmo is what he got! Here are some highlights:

Goodie bags with Elmo hats, Elmo pinnate, lots of Sesame Street goodies including an incredible handmade cake!

Macklin sure does know how to find the goodies first!

Jen and our friend Hailee that helped with the prep work.

Too bad Macy couldn't sport an Elmo hat!

Macklin was a bit unsure of the beating that Elmo took.

 Buddies!

Mack = Baller

This is a funny video I snuck out just the other day. Macklin didn't know I was filming from the bathroom. He is so funny, working on his moves daddy taught him. He normally makes most of his shots, I think he was more focused on his dribbling and fake outs though!

Just spent a couple of hours importing all of our new footage...get ready for some blogging grandparents!

Macklin's Sayings

I have been meaning to make a post about some of the cute things that Macklin says these days. Here are some of my favorite at the moment...

"All by myself"
"Oh yah"

...Now I just need to get them recorded so I can remember the cute way that he says it!

Best Meet Ever!

Just one note to brag on....this was BMHS's meet. I am excited to have an EVHS runner on the front page of the paper at their meet.

Seriously, the best meet I have ever coached! I knew my team was going to be competitive this year and am expecting (and hoping) that this is the first year that both teams qualify for state (last year the boys made it)...but I didn't know we would be this good! We ran at the Battle Mountain Invitational yesterday and destroyed the course! Let's start with the varsity boys...my top guy won the meet (shown above), then we went 3rd, 4th, 8th, and 11th!!! That is a low 27 points - pretty sure the lowest ever by any EVHS team. The varsity girls earned 2nd as a team behind a very tough BMHS squad. Had four girls in the top 15 and the 5th was 20th (running dehydrated even...gotta fix that). The JV Boys won their division with six in the top 15 and the JV girls had two award winners. It was crazy! We had three pieces of team hardware and 38 happy faces. Coaching is a blast. I am there because I love high school kids, I love the sport and I feel called to coach....but winning does make things way more exciting! I can't wait for our home meet this Saturday.

Hanging Around with Friends

We had a fun Thursday morning when Colby and Karolina came over. Now that Macklin is actually playing with other kids, it is way fun to have play dates!

Jesus Lives in My Heart

Macklin starting to learn more about Jesus and begin to understand things. His favorite story out of his baby Bible David and Goliath.

A couple of weeks ago I convinced him to read another story and we were talking about the Holy Spirit. I told him that the Holy Spirit lives in his heart. He lifted up his shirt and said, "In here?" Then he asked about Macy. "Macy have Holy Spirit." After telling him the Jesus could live in Macy's heart, he said, "Lets go find it!"

Then the other night, he asked me where Elmo's heart was because his PJs just have pictures of Elmo's head. He was concerned that the Holy Spirit couldn't live in Elmo's heart because he couldn't see it.

And, my favorite Jesus moment yet....We were snuggling in bed a couple of nights ago and I said, "Macklin what are you thinking about?" "Jesus" "What about Jesus?" And Macklin said, "That Jesus lives in my heart." LOVE IT!

The other day, Macklin decided that he didn't want to sleep. He played quietly in his room for quite a while. By the time I finally decided I should end his room seclusion, I opened the door and this is what I found! A neatly organized stable with Mary, Joseph, and Jesus complete with a line of fences. It was the cutest thing ever! I haven't even seen him put the fences together yet on his own. It was so fun to see how much his little mind is changing!

Growing Up

I have noticed our kids growing up so fast lately! Maybe it is that Macklin is talking up a storm, or that Macy can just relax on your hip. Both are so fun to be around and so full of energy. They provide so much joy to our lives.

Little Buddies - I love that Macklin enjoys to be around Macy.

Macy Growing - Just keeps getting bigger! We are now out of 0-3 month clothes and almost out of 3 months clothes. 3-6 month fit her the best right now, which is fun because that means a whole new bag of outfits to play with! When I shared this excitement with Justin the other day, he said, "Well don't you think that is a good thing since she is almost 5 months old!" We have a little peanut on our hands. She is still rocking the XS Bum Genius diapers too!

Here she is swinging at our team dinner last week. My hubby is funny!

Macklin Growing - Now, he is learning and growing each day! Here are some of the funny things he has said lately....

"Mom, I am faster than the clouds!" (while running home from the park)
"There's a giant in there!" (while pretending to hunt large things in our house...he is a great pretend player)

"I have a mustache. Mom, you want a mustache?" Thank you baby, but I will have to pass :)
(what happens when you have to finish a phone conversation)

Macklin loves water! He would play in water every second of the day if possible. Today was a water in the sink kinda day...which then turned into a bath in the sink!

Playing - On Monday we met up with a couple of friends at the park. Macklin has really changed the way that he plays with other kids. Now he is ACTUALLY PLAYING! Before it was more like two kids were in the same place but not actually interacting. Now he plays! It is fun to watch!

Sport Skills - Macklin is loving all sports these days. We shoot hoops, kick soccer balls, play catch, play football, wrestle, work on our block starts and run, etc. His arm is getting pretty good!

But, one area that he still needs to learn about is science, specifically gravity. He was tossing rocks in the landscaping the other day. He tossed a rock straight up....and it came straight down...onto his forehead! He was super surprised but handled it well. Yet another bump on the head for Mack. There is always more to learn, right?

Happy Birthday, Justin!

For Justin's birthday, I thought we would try to check an item off of his summer bucket list - search out Castle Peak! Castle Peak is a fun landmark north of the Gypsum/Eagle area. It can be seen right out of our church windows and we have always wanted to adventure over there! Well, we tried today, but we didn't get too close! We tried to go up through Wolcott and we couldn't get very close. Next time we will have to go up Colorado River Road and come in from the west side. But, none the less, still a fun day with the family. I love road trips with Justin because we just get to be together, no distractions (except maybe two cute kids in the back), just chatting.

As close as we got :)

The roads we were trying to explore!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

We had a picnic at this little lake/reservoir and Justin opened his gift - a new pair of mountain biking shorts!

 "Owwww" - Mack
Crazy, Macy must have pulled your hand over and then put it in her mouth...silly boy!

The Birthday Continues!
We came home to our high school friends surprising Justin! He had NO idea!

We love having Mack and Macy around our high school friends! It is so sweet!
