Go Time for Track

We are down to our final two weeks of the track season. Last Saturday, our JV runners had their last chance at competition at Battle Mountain. We took home some hardware even with our top 9 sprinters at a different meet (of which they also won!). The streak of winning meets is still alive and well!

Our favorite little fan - decked out in all the right EVHS gear!

I had my distance squad over for dinner last Thursday. It was a blast to host them all. We had a fantastic dinner and then watched funny runner YouTube videos (check out XC Dream and S#*t Runners Don't Say if you are a runner!). Our high school athletes are always so fun to have around our kids.

Regional Outlook:
With Regionals this weekend, we have a lot on our minds. Our boys should win, hands down, and should beat the 2nd place team by possibly 80 points. I would love to see them win EVERY relay and just dominate the meet. We are so deep it is almost unreal. On the girls side, things are a little different. Athletes qualify for state by placing in the top 18 marks for their event over the course of the whole season for your division. You don't know who is in that top 18 until all of the meets have reported this coming Saturday night and they have finalized it on Sunday evening. We have a lot of kids in the 15-18 places and those are not safe. How this plays into regionals is this - you can either get your kids into state (by loading up those relays) or go for the team win (by taking those 4 relay girls and putting them in individual events to score more points). This is the closest shot we have ever had to win regionals, but we have a tough team to fight against (BMHS). So, I think we have a great lineup planned out, and I am pumped to see what will happen on Friday and Saturday. We are behind about 11 points when you run a mock meet with the current standings. Every point will matter. Every competition will go down to the wire. Our kids are tough and ready to compete and we believe in them! Updates to come!
